Sting, congratulations on your appearance at the Academy of Music Concert and Ball in Philadelphia. What a treat, you and the orchestra! I would of been there if I could. Hope you tour closer to my hometown where I can have better luck to go see you again.
It's been a long time in between
Since I dreamed with Sting
It's always a wondrous thing
Especially now -
While I'm still in awe of the cherry tree
Down the block from my place in Queens.
A remarkable reminder
Of the Mystic Law of life
Of my Mentor
A year has passed since I read "Broken Music" and your memoirs still have a profound affect on me. I happened upon your book in a second hand bookstore and was immediately drawn into your story. Everything from the Brazilian adventure to your experiences as a young father pursuing your passion for music resounded within me. The life that you shared in “Broken Music” mirrored my personal journey as a young father pursuing a passion.
When I finished your book, I had a dream we met and I gave you a scroll casing. The next day, the dream was hovering as I tossed over my troubles. On a walk, I passed a church that was having a Tibetan bazaar. Inside, there was a table selling scroll casings. This I did not take lightly, but I still struggled with buying one because I only had $60 or something. I decided to follow my heart and asked the merchant to put one aside. I needed to go get some cash. As I was walking to the bank, I continued to harass myself about the idea. Get a gift for Sting? Inside the bank, one of your songs was playing. Omen.
I feel compelled now to offer you this gift. There is a mysterious force in my life guiding me along. This is part of the mystery. I feel there is something to learn by you. I refrained from contacting you until now because I needed to regain some personal power. A year ago, I was undergoing a psychic death pertaining to my music and fatherhood. I have shed the old skin and I am ready for a new fight.
The casing stands on my mantel holding some Indian incense. It would be an honor to send it to you. If you ever need a back up vocalist, I am ready and willing. You can hear me sing at www.myspace.com/heartim.
