Truck Festival! Headed off on a little road trip today down to Oxford for Truck Festival. My friend Tim was playing with his other band "Malpas", so we all went down with him. Unlike most the festivals I have done with La Roux this summer, it was very small and chilled. Quite a hippy festival really, a real lovely atmosphere. We listened to The Bronx back catalogue on the way down to Oxford which put us all in great moods! Straight on to site and down to the tent where Timmy was playing..
Malpas are folk-electronica? I hate genre names, but I'd say that was right, like Simon and Garfunkel meets Burial!? haha, that thought made me laugh. They nailed their set at Truck and the response was fantastic. Now it really was a matter of killing time until the mighty MEW took to the stage, a band I have liked for years and never seen. We went and set up our tents in the field, and it really took me back a few years! I was with the same group of friends that I used to go to Leeds Festival with when I was 16. Now, 6 years on, here we are again, but this time in the cleaner artist camping...snob? me?! After dinner, it was finally time to see Mew. Their set was truly memorable, a great mix of old and new material, and their light show would have sent an epileptic mental!
Because we're getting old, we went back to our campsite for an early night...at a festival...can you believe this!?
