" Nero's Joe Ray and Dan Stephens ache to bestow post-dubstep with its can-you-believe-this-s***? flash of stadium-size euphoria, enhancing (or defiling, depending on your perspective) the genre's bass-heavy payload with trancey synths and wailing vocals,- Charles Aaron, Spin
“Welcome Reality” will inevitably soundtrack thousands of summer and fall blowouts. ...Nero understand how to make things burn."
-Jeff Weiss, Los Angeles Times
"Glorious, splinter-thin moments when a sound is both free to do whatever it wants and still functioning as a new power source…"
– Sasha Frere-Jones, New Yorker

This summer saw Nero DJ on tours through out the UK and US and appeared on various dates on this summer's Identity Tour, plus all major UK music festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Reading, and Wireless. In unison with the release of their debut album and first official US EP release they are about to premiere their monster of a new live show in North America and are booked for an intensive run in various cities which includes the newly announced Los Angeles show at The Music Box on October 29th. Additional shows include New York City's Webster Hall, and Denver's First Bank Center with Skrillex and more. Los Angeles Tickets can be purchased HERE
The live show sees Dan and Joe performing on keyboards, touch screen lemurs and laptops, and are bringing along guest performer Alana on vocals. “We’ve known her since we were 16,” explains Dan. “She’s always been part of the Nero gang. She’s got a good A&R sensibility, and she’s been on all the singles. She helps give us a ‘band’ feel, a bit like Massive Attack.” It is a visual led performance and see's them performing from a custom build booth consisting of ghetto blasters, retro TVs, old amps and an arcade machine centre piece. Additional DJ dates are also announced.
Nero have taken the music world by storm. And “storm” is about right when it comes to describing the epic noise they make, with its thunderous dubstep bass, whirlwind drum’n’bass and hail of house rhythms, lightning flashes of rave synths, squall of orchestra, and occasional showers of guitar.
The storm broke in early 2011, when Dan and Joe, were one of the 12 newcomers in the BBC’s prestigious annual Sound of... list of names to watch, from a poll of critics and music industry tastemakers. Since then, success for the pair hasn’t been so much intermittent as a downpour: in January, their single Me & You peaked at number 15, the follow-up, Guilt, went top 10, reaching number 8 in April, and in June they headlined the WOW stage at Glastonbury and had their Dubstep Symphony performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
They have had their fair share of releases on all the right labels, won several awards including 2010's Beatport Awards for Best Dubstep Act and Best Dubstep track for “Act Like you Know,” and receiving nominations for BBC’s Sound of 2011, XFM’s Sound of 2011, and Music Week’s Top 15. They've also done remixes for the great and good, including The Streets, La Roux, deadmau5, N*E*R*D and Daft Punk.
