If everything goes to plan, after the early-2011 release of her dance-pop debut, Perfectionist, the 24-year-old singer (real name: natalia cappuccini) won’t be anonymous for long. Natalia was born to a Jamaican father and a Uruguayan mother in Bradford, England, a small town four hours north of London, which she describes as being populated by “sheep and serial killers.” Like a sensible star in the making, she got out of there ASAP. At fifteen, she relocated to London, joined the national youth theatre, and was cast in all about me, a popular British comedy series. But though Natalia loved the thrill of acting, she started to feel constrained. “I wanted to be someone who was creating,” she says, “not just interpreting.”
