CATCH NEWCOMER MATTHEW KOMA ON TOUR WITH OWL CITY THIS FALL
KOMA’S FOUR-SONG DEBUT — PARACHUTE EP — OUT NOW ON CHERRYTREE/DARKCHILD/INTERSCOPE RECORDS
August 13, 2012 — Santa Monica, CA — New York-bred singer and songwriter Matthew Koma hits the road on select dates supporting Owl City on tour this fall. Kicking off September 22, in San Diego at the House of Blues the twelve date run wraps up October 7th at Detroit’s Crofoot. Check out all dates below.
Having already made a splash co-writing the hook on Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso’s smash single “Calling (Lose My Mind)” featuring Ryan Tedder, Matthew also co-wrote and is featured on "Sparks" with rising DJs Nicky Romero and Fedde LeGrand. In addition Matthew Koma co-wrote and features on both Alesso’s new single “Years,” (which he performed live with Alesso at this year’s Coachella festival) and on red-hot German DJ Zedd’s new single “Spectrum”.
Matthew is featured on Cherrytree label-mates Far East Movement's song "Ain't Coming Down" that is included on FM's "Dirty Bass" album and which also contains the current top 10 UK hit "Turn Up the Love" also co-penned by Koma.
An inventive songwriter with a keen sense of melody, Koma steps out on his own with the Parachute EPout now on Cherrytree/Darkchild/Interscope Records. Matthew wrote and produced/co-produced all of the four tracks on Parachute, working with collaborators Alex Da Kid (Nicki Minaj, Rihanna), The Runaways’ Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello (Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis), The Smeezingtons’ Ari Levine (Bruno Mars, Bad Meets Evil), and Mike Caren (T.I., B.o.B.).
The tracks that make up the Parachute EP are just a taste of what’s to come when Matthew releases his debut album Propaganda later this year— a product of a diligent approach to his craft, as well as an appreciation for the master singer-songwriters who have preceded him, especially his heroes Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen, who’s new single “Rocky Ground” Matthew co-remixed. The result is a collection of unforgettable songs rooted in a classic, timeless songwriting tradition that Koma makes thoroughly his own.
