I wrote Marilyn last year sometime before christmas. I have wanted to be a singer for as long as I can remember. I admire Marilyn Monroe and have her posters and canvasses all over the house. I think most would agree on her iconic status and tragic early demise. I write at my dressing table and in the reflection of the mirror I can see Marilyn's reflection on the poster behind me. Marilyn Monroe was far from ordinary. She encapsulated beauty, talent and of course Hollywood. All people have the ability to achieve highly. We can be anything we want to be. We can do anything we want to do. The only thing that sways it one way or another is belief. But despite this "truth" we all have times where we feel like we are not good enough, that we can't do it, and that theres no point in trying because its never gonna happen. You should always believe in yourself and whilst for me achievement will be becoming a singer professionally, achievement can be anything for different people. Having your own family, having your own space, getting a promotion, helping people you love, looking in the mirror and feeling proud of what you see and who you are-that is an achievement. No Ordinary Girl is about looking at yourself, feeling proud, pulling out that inner strength and belief and realising you will never be ordinary. Just like Marilyn.
