Los Angeles, CA, October 13, 2011—Party Rock/will.i.am/Cherrytree/Interscope recording artist LMFAO has received two American Music Awards nominations for “Sprint New Artist of the Year” and “Pop or Rock Music: Favorite Band, Duo or Group.” Fans can go to online to vote at amavote.com or ama.abc.com. The 39th Annual American Music Awards will be broadcast live on ABC on November 20 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The GRAMMY® nominated electro hip-hop duo LMFAO are celebrating a successful 2011. Their sophomore album “Sorry For Party Rocking” jumps from #36 to #31 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and has produced two hit singles that are both in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Digital Songs chart —the current single “Sexy & I Know It” and, officially according to Billboard, the #1 song of the summer “Party Rock Anthem.” “Party Rock Anthem” has seen over 200 million views on VEVO and is featured by KIA in their award winning KIA Hamster advertising campaign. The Ohio University Marching band has even filmed their performance of this song and the resulting video has gone viral.
By the end of this week LMFAO will have surpassed 10 million units in total single sales worldwide from their sophomore album with the three hit songs “Sexy & I Know It,” (1 million units) “Party Rock Anthem,” (8.3 million units) and “Champagne Showers” (500,000 units). The group also recently took home the Australian Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favorite Song and received two MTV European Music Award nominations. They will be performing at the MTV EMAs which will be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Sunday, November 6.
LMFAO will be headlining a sold out European tour this October and November before returning to North American to headline their first arena tour in Canada as they bring the Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour to the north. Special guests on the bill for the tour are Far East Movement and Natalia Kills, with Frankmusik, Kay, Colette Carr and Rye Rye.
