I listened to the chirping of the birds outside, celebrating for the rising of the sun.
I lay there in my bed, awake, remembering what had happened yesterday.
Yesterday. That had been the time of my life. I had spent it with my one and only love. The one that I had felt that way for so long. The one that my heart was yearning for.
Memories flashed in my mind, of the glowing moon shining upon me when I saw him, for the first time in my life. I had been in love with him but have never lain my eyes upon him. His beautiful face. My eyes where on him even as I entered a building, a friend took me to.
It had been surprising because he talked to me first and I felt my heart jump to my throat.
"Hey." his voice echoed in my ears, muffling the sound of people up and about.
"Hey." I replied, slightly flustered. "You're alone?"
"Yeah. Weird right?"
"Yup." I said. "What did you do?"
He cocked his eyebrows in a question.
"I mean..who the hell wears sun glasses in a club?"
I smiled as the memory of his smile flashed upon me.
We snuck out of the club, leaving my friend behind, and headed to the place he and his brother shared.
I closed my eyes in the memory of his light kisses on my lips that lead to one passionate night.
One passionate night.
I snapped my eyes open, realizing that I was just one of his many one night stands, like a dream that had actually been a nightmare.
It was just a dream, that had to end by the time I woke up.
I looked around me, realizing that I was alone in an unfamiliar room, filled with a beautiful scent that brought up my senses.
He was not beside me.
I felt tears welling up my eyes as I got up from bed. I picked my clothes, dressed up, fixed the bed and my hair, took my purse off the side table and turned the knob that would lead me to reality again.
I looked back, for the last time. I rubbed my face with a sleeve, clearing it of the tears that was misting it.
I opened the door and smelled...waffles.
A deep hum met my ears. No, more like, a chant.
I walked just to the door way leading to the kitchen. I peeped in and saw him, cooking my favorite breakfast.
I had told him last night.
"Lecker, lecker, lecker, lecker..."
I just wanted to hug him, then and there. But I had to make sure that that was welcome.
"Tom." I started.
He looked over his shoulder and smiled when he saw me. I couldn't help but think that he was REALLY adorable.
"Good morning." He said brightly as he placed the shaker on the counter. "I made waffles. Just the way you want them."
At that spot, I prayed that this dream would never end.
