The Ticker: We know that you guys grew up together in Los Angeles but can you describe how you formed as a musical group? When did you start working on music together?
FM: We would freestyle to whatever was playing on the radio in parking lots around downtown L.A. in high school, and right out of school, we'd lug a huge home PC and an old school monitor to an attic of a friend's house and teach ourselves how to record tracks for fun to put on the [Internet]. The first songs we recorded were about what we felt represented a new international multi-genre play-listed perspective on L.A. Everything from shades and kicks to taco trucks after the club at 4 a.m. was in there, and we called it the Far East Movement. We would rehearse it in Prohgress's mom's kitchen and since it was everything that represented us, it became our name.
