Hey Hey Rec'ers,
I've been working in Europe again the last few days and it's been a fun ride. I came straight from seeing Marilyn Manson in Kansas on the Mayhem tour and, after a quick stop in the office (a few hours) in LA, I headed directly back to the airport and flew to Amsterdam to meet up with RedOne. From there we flew to Ibiza where the super producer hooked up with the one-and-only Lady Gaga to write and record some new songs. The results were downright enthralling and I can't wait for everybody to hear the new music that will be coming out before the end of the year.
From Ibiza, I headed to Stockholm via a brief stop in Madrid. It was kind of a shock to go from sweltering Ibiza to cool Stockholm but, once there, I went into the studio with RedOne and his warm and welcoming writing team of Kee, Billy the Chef and AJ. Novel came later too. They had a full house in the studio with visits from Cat de Luna and Little Boots as well as Destinee and Paris whom I've been helping A&R. Kee is also preparing her forthcoming debut solo album.
I'm typing this from Stockholm still where long studio hours haven't permitted much more than a random meeting with famed director Jonas Ackerlund and a couple of stops at RedOne's favorite kebab joint. I did, however, get to connect with the manager of Agnes, a new signing to Geffen/Interscope in which I'm involved. Agnes is currently enjoying a big hit in the UK with her soul-drenched club banger "Release Me."
I also connected with the extraordinary Robyn and super producer Klas Ahlund who gave me a little sneak preview of some new works-in-progress (super sounding). They were kind enough to take me on a beautiful tour of the old town area of Stockholm, which was really enlightening, as well as, uhm ... cardiovascular (leisurely strollers, they ain't). It felt good brisk-walking after that beautiful, traditional Swedish dinner of meatballs and herring to which they treated me (thank you, again, Robyn and Klas).
Logging in more studio time today. Until the next one ...
