Your Pop Alternative Source

There is no other way to start out this blog post besides giving an absolutely HUGE thank you to Martin, Ellie and Arjan for being so kind to me last night!  I have been a rec'er for quite awhile, but since I live in Chattanooga, TN I don't often get the opportunity to go to concerts, so this was my first Cherry Tree concert and my second concert overall.   The night started out great by getting there at 6 ish and getting to meet all the wonderful people that were just as jazzed about the show as I was.  My friend Caitlin came along with me, and she had never listened to Ellie before, so I knew that she was going to have an absolute surprise.  Fast forward to around 8:30 and I get a call from Martin and we all head backstage to have a little meet and greet deal with Ellie before she goes on.  Little did we know that we would be catching Miss Goulding in something that belongs Under the Sheets (pardon the pun): some hardcore comfy pajamas).  I was honestly worried that I was going to have a huge freakout when I met her, so I gave my friend full permission to hit me if necessary, thankfully that didn't happen though because Martin and Ellie were so down to earth and welcoming to me.  We talked a bit about the Tennessee Aquarium, where I work, and other stuff, and then she had to go get changed for the show.  Martin, Caitlin, Arjan and I headed out to the venue to watch the show.  I had been excited for this show ever since I heard "Everytime You Go" playing at a gas station in Rising Fawn, Georgia of all places a couple of months ago.  I was expecting something that would be awesomely amazing, but this show literally left me speechless.  After listening to the album so many times, I didn't know how her and her band would be able to make a live show sound like the recordings, but they pulled it off to a tee, and in my opinion, it sounded even better live!  She started out with "Under the Sheets" and then pulled out some of her songs from Lights until she played an acoustic song that I had never heard before that was about her being obsessed with a boy who well...wasn't very obsessed with her.  After that came the ballad of "Your Song" which had an extra allure to it last night given the tragic and come too soon passing of Amy Winehouse who will forever be remembered as an extrodinary musician and an inspiration to many.  Ellie then picked the energy right back up with some more songs, which all the crowd seemed to know the words!  Let me tell ya, that girl has some movesssssssssssss.  I don't know how she did it, but she definitely managed to make the South even hotter!! One song I was not expecting to hear live was "Salt Skin" and to be honest, it wasn't my favorite off of her album, but she put a twist and an excellent stage presence to it that added that special something to the performance along with a bangin' floor tom solo.  She ended her show with a stellar performance of "Little Dreams" and then walked off the stage.  Within seconds the whole venue was filled with the synchonized chant of "Ellie! Ellie! Ellie!" and to everybody's delight she came out and wowed us with two more songs, the last being "Starry Eyed." To say this show was amazing would be a huge disrespect and understatement to everybody who was there and to Ellie and her band as well.  This show was one that will go down in the records!  After all of the show, we hopped backstage once again to meet her band and then eventually Ellie came in as well.  Naturally, they took out an assortment pack of cereal and started playing baseball with the leftover food..."No Ellie! Not the Chicken!!" Once again I wish all of you could have been there and I cannot fully express my gratitude towards the wonderful Ellie Goulding, and Martin enough.  I truly love you guys and hope I get this experience again! PS, sorry for such a long blog, but I'll leave you with "Guns and Horses" from last night!  http://youtu.be/si1pyAc5qQU
