What's up fans and friends!!!!

I hope everyone is surviving and getting through the February changeover to Spring..

Where I am, in Ireland, it is incredibly windy and cold, so much so that I decided not to leave my house at all. Everyone wants to be blown away but not by the wind. Looking forward to the sight of blossom.

And so as the American tour beckons (finally) and I really really can't wait, there's so many people still to meet and places to see. So also comes the time where I write my second album.

Don't people get scared of writing the second album? That's what I heard. Since I wrote Lights I've grown up a lot, read a lot more and discovered a lot more music. Not to mention my voice is raw from touring. But I like the tone of it now. So I'm not afraid. More curious of what will come out!

Been reading poetry quite a bit. Just picked up Carol Ann Duffy's "Rapture" Very moving,  if you get a chance to read it. Also just finished Patti Smith's book, "Just kids". A whole world I didn't know about, a fascinating prologue to fame.
Patti references singers and bands that I have bothered to listen to, and now I'm obsessed with researching them and watching youtube videos. Its costing me a bomb on itunes to download all this new music. It's more the lifestyle and the obsession with art I've become attached to, an artists plight and an unbreakable, beautiful friendship. There are so many definitions of what an artist is and it gives me a headache. So I was relieved to read about it in such a pure simple way- Two kids dreaming of becoming artists. Anyway- it is a wonderful and heart-wrenching read and my first real insight into rock and roll.

Where I am at the moment couldn't be more perfect to read and reflect. Lonely, but perfectly solitary.

I'd be lying if I said that the last couple of years resulted in me being a calm person but here I am, writing to you, feeling rather calm. I've been alone for the past week in a tiny seaside town, protected by huge, Irish hills. Saying that, I can feel my heart beat more especially lying down; I have put this down to lack of distraction from it- its just so quiet!

I became attached to this place after the first time I came. Such a hidden gem of a place... Small shops, harbour, beautiful hills and cliffs, and traditional Irish folk music. Have attached picture of me trying out the accordian for the first time!

Someone had just abandoned it in one of the pubs.  A skull in fairy lights. Not a profound masterpiece by any means but I found it funny that that lovely girl who owned it was so blase about her obsession with finding skulls. Well I quite like skulls too, I said!

And we carried on drinking wine. We went to a pub quiz last night. I am always so enthusiastic until I get there and realise I have little general knowledge in comparison to EVERYONE else which is so frustrating, I protest, especially when I knew the million pound question on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire once.

I just had Seafood Chowder- the ONE. Amazing. Fresh fish.

Ok so music- I am in love with Drake's record. Such a brilliant poet. Swoon.

Beach House, Dolly Parton, James Blake, Chase and Status, The National, Nicky Minaj, Warpaint, Arcade Fire, just downloaded the Adele album because I heard its brilliant. Apparently she said she was a fan on Radio one the other day, amazing! If anyone knows of any other new brilliant pop albums DO let me know.

Got three songs for y'all to download or youtube....

Anna Calvi- Suzanne and I

The Irrepressibles- In This Shirt

Matt Corby- Coloured Stones and Walls

All good s***.

Ok so over and out,

Hope you're all Happy!

Hiya Ellie. Nice to hear from you again sweety. These blogs are the best. Lets me see how you see things. Insight into your poetic mind. It's wonderful. I don't have too much to say to you this time. I think i've probably gushed about you enough already as a fan and I don't want to seem completely obsessed. I'm just happy that I have found somebody from the current British mainstream that really has changed music for the better for me.

About the second album. God you work fast. How far are you into the writing process? It will be tough to out do Lights or even Brights Lights but i'm sure you're not looking to out do it, you just want to keep creating music and making yourself and us happy. I can't wait. Anything Ellie Goulding will do just fine for me.

As for recommendations on music. There isn't much I have discovered that can beat any of the stuff you have put out or even any of the unreleased stuff you have lying around on Youtube. Infact there isn't anything that can beat the stuff you put out. Certainly not from British music anyway.

Erm... this might not intrest you but I still think you should check it out. I like Disney Channel artists and there's this one singer that has incredible talent. Way too good for disney. Her name is Demi Lovato. She can write, act, dance... practically do anything and do it well. But man can she SINNNG. The woman has an AMAZING voice for her age. I mean she is only 18 and sings like she is a 30 year old female singer. Her vocal range is astounding. It's so powerful and soulful. Everytime I listen to her live she blows me away. She doesn't have a unique sounding voice like you do but she has an awful amount of control over her high notes and can belt like it's not even a challenge. That's an extreme rarity among female singers under 20. She really is very underrated and underappreciated for her skill and talent as a singer-songwriter. You really have to give her a listen. I

Ellie!! I'm very excited about your US tour!! Although my heart broke when I found out that it's only for 18+,  I am just broken apart! Although I can't wait for your album lights to come out over here in the US on MARCH 8th!!!!!!!! I was wondering what is your favorite song from Drake? I have no idea what else to say, umm...well I know I'm never going to stand out for you to ever see me. :( Well there are soo many things I could say, but it wouldn't fit on this page. Hopefully one day you and I can go running and just chill! I truly love you Ellie!

Yours always,

Andrea :)

Ellie, i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE you but this US tour is lame. I am 16 and A HUGE, i mean HUGE fan. i live in new jersey and i would go to your NYC show but its only 18+ in Webster Hall. when i first found out that i had to be 18 or older, tears literally fell from my eyes. I dont know if you can add an extra date at a different venue in NJ/NY but PLEAAAAASSEEEEE try. It would seriously make my life to see you and i would do anything to go. I love you and good luck with your US tour with or without that second date. :)

These blogs are just incredible, Ellie. They're so genuine and heartfelt; it's really awesome to get a look inside your head. :) I've always wanted to go to Ireland, and this year I made a friend who lives there so now I want to go even more! It sounds incredible.

We all can't wait for the second album! It's going to be brilliant no matter what.

Regarding the US Tour, I really really really hope you come back soon. The closest you'll be to me (Pittsburgh during the school year) is Philly, which is 5 hours away on a good day. :( The closest you'll be to my hometown (in NW Ohio) is Chicago, 4 hours away. So... Glad that you'll be here, just terribly sad I can't go. Have a good time while you're here though!

Thanks again so much for sharing your thoughts. Good luck at the Brits!

Stop coming to Ireland and not visiting me :P

Also looovvve your aran sweater! Bet you fit right in with the country folk!

Hope you're having fun, Dingle is a beautiful place alright. I've only managed to get down to it once or twice when I was younger and I have to say, although I was aware of how beautiful the place was, I was a tad more interested in seeing Fungi the dolphin haha!

i think I still have a novelty pen I bought in the gift shop actually!

Anyway, safe travels Els and enjoy the rest of your time here :) Xxx

Another great blog Ellie, loved reading it!

Sounds great where you are staying right now, I'll be going to west coast of Ireland for 2 weeks around Easter time which should be fun..

I'm looking forward to the new albums by Noah and the Whale and The Vaccines which are released next month. They both have songs in the charts at the moment I think, at least they did last week haha.

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your stay in Ireland, continue to take the time to relax! .. because I'm sure once you travel over the pond to tour, everything will be crazy!

Love you Ellie :)
