Your Pop Alternative Source
In 2002, I had the privilege of working with a feisty young duo named Julia Volkova and Lena Katina who were collectively known as t.A.T.u. They hailed from Russia and sang with compelling and urgent voices. They dared to address subject matter rarely heard in pop music at the time and they traveled around the world scaring parents - and, on occasion, some of us at the company :-).
I’m proud of the milestones that t.A.T.u.'s debut album, “200 km/h in the Wrong Lane,” achieved. I’m also proud of the no. 1 hit it yielded – “All the Things She Said” that I’m honored to have co-written.
But, most of all, I’m proud of how relevant the music still sounds today and how new groups coming to Cherrytree continually reference it as an important musical influence.
To commemorate its 10th year anniversary - along with our friends at Universal Russia - we’ve put together a special re-issue of “200 km/h in the Wrong Lane” with a previously unreleased song (“A Simple Motion”) recorded during the original sessions as well as a new remix of “All the Things She Said” from Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Shakira).
I hope you’ll join us in celebrating the birthday of an album dear to my heart and special to many pop music fans around the world.
