Your Pop Alternative Source
As is our specific m.o., Cherrytree Records has been pushing musical boundaries with releases across all Pop Alternative musical genres since its inception in 2005. For example, one of the musical genres in which we've been very active is electronic music since the early remixes we issued for Feist's "Let It Die" (the first album ever released on Cherrytree Records in March 2005) to the release of the Cherrytree 12" for La Roux's iconic "In for the Kill" (Skream remix). Our release of Bass Nectar's speaker-crushing interpretation of Ellie Goulding's "... spent weeks at no. 1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart, Nero's powerful "Promises" was remixed by Skrillex and went GOLD and Cherrytree releases by Disclosure and R.A.C. are already beginning to break new electronic and dance music ground.
Far East Movement's collaboration with the Bingo Players "Get Up (Rattle)" topped the UK singles chart for 2 weeks in a row this year while Matthew Koma was at the forefront of both progressive and lyrical electronic records either as featured vocalist, writer or both (see Zedd's "Clarity" ft. Foxes, Alesso's "Years" and Far East Movement's "Turn Up the Love.") In what was another very proud moment for us this year, Cherrytree signed electronic music pioneers Röyksopp.
If you look at the last 5 years of GRAMMY nominations in the Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording categories, they've included no less than 12 Cherrytree artists. That's at least one Cherrytree artist almost every single year with multiple Cherrytree artists nominated in the same year on two occasions (check out the list below). Whatsmore, the International Dance Music Awards have nominated Cherrytree Records for Best Domestic Label 2 out of the last 3 years.
As some of you know, in addition to running the day-to-day operations of Cherrytree Records, we also provide boutique management service to some of the most creative artists, mixer and producers including those involved in the electronic music arena. For instance, Michael Einziger added to his long list of musical accomplishments with Incubus, Coconut Records, The Internet, Chuck English and Hans Zimmer by writing "Wake Me Up," one of this year's biggest songs, with Avicii and Aloe Blacc. Up-and-coming dance artists/producers La'Reda reflipped Sir Sly's "Gold" and went straight to no. 1 on hypem.com. Betablock3r brought their airy, electro style to Ellie Goulding's "Anything Could Happen." Even Indie Pop Rock outfit Max and the Moon got into the e-flow by remixing Natalia Kills' "Boys Don't Cry" which premiered on Cosmopolitan.com. Both Cherrytree artists and management clients performed at Ultra and at the Sahara tent at Coachella. Cherrytree staff participated in several panels at ADE in Amsterdam and I even got the chance to produce some Cherry Cherry Boom Boom remixes this year for Imagine Dragons, RAC, Afrojack and Krewella.
All this to say thank you for all of your support. Please watch this space in 2014 and look for Cherrytree in your subs.
