Last week was a week of meetings, discussing the plans for the record with our label, our publisher and the band. The fact that this is our third album means everyone already has a pretty good understanding of how we work and respects it. Therefore the meetings were pretty straight forward and very positive.
On Monday we moved into a converted synagogue to begin demoing. Here it is;
I think we already have a pretty strong idea of the feel of the record and the first few days have been very promising. Doug has been back on the drums and will hopefully be balancing recording with us over the rest of the year with his medical career. Today was the first full rehearsal with the five of us.
In other news, following an article on the Hebrides in the National Geographic I have decided to take a trip there sometime this summer. There was some pretty remarkable photography with the article and I remembered that for some time now I've wanted to upload a collection of photos I took in the Lake District last winter. A few of them featured in 'The First Days Of Spring' album sleeve but below is a link to get the full collection. I know this is probably not something that will interest everyone but I have no other real outlet for them. The mysterious mannequin head photo by the brick wall, is the head that was used for the binaural field recordings for the album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_recording).
Finally here are two comedy classics and a brilliant song from the late great Vic Chestnutt.
Also this is a trailer for a David Lynch film that I only heard about and saw recently. It is quite unlike a lot of his other work but is one of the best films I have seen in a very long time.
