R.A.C. - Bowery Ballroom - New York City, NY. - 11/14/13

I took a trip to see RAC (Remix Artist Collective) in NYC. The show was sold out so I was very lucky to have  bought my ticket when I did.  He played a hand full of shows this round making this a hot ticket, thus why I made the trek.  RAC has a collection of songs with guest vocalists so I wondered…

Deap Vally - Jessie Ware - Disclosure - Lollapalooza - Chicago IL. 08-02-13

It was a great day at Lollapalooza.  Though we had a brief rainstorm, the day overall was overcast and warm.  One of the reasons I chose Friday (day) was the fact that 3 CT artists were on that bill and 2 of those artists I had never seen.  Seemed to me to be a great reason to come up to…

Journeys Store Signing

Today's adventure leads me to Chicago to see the second Marianas Trench show of the week and coincidentally the last show of the Journeys tour.  The day started with a signing at a Journeys mall based store where a…

Marianas Trench - Bogart's - Cincinnati OH. 06-19-13

The last time I had seen Marianas Trench was in a mall setting.  They did a great job working with nothing more than just their instruments and no stage show.  The show I had witnessed at the historic Bogart's in Cincinnati was my first opportunity to see them live in their true stage element.  Marianas…

Far East Movement - Macy's APAHM performance - Chicago IL. 05-30-13

I was very excited about going to see Far East Movement during Macy's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.   I have seen many Far East Movement shows but not like this one.  This particular show was to celebrate APAHM and included a question and answer session which I found insightful.  They were asked…

Willy Moon - A&R Music Bar - Columbus OH. 02-26-13

What can I say....Willy Moon is awesome.  The guy clearly understands a few things necessary to be awesome.  I thought he would be behind the 8-ball trying to make a genre of music from the past exciting but he has done it.  He has power and he understands feel and how to conjure up that feel in listeners. …

Keane - Newport Music Hall - Columbus, OH. 01/26/13.

I traveled to Columbus OH. to see Keane in the historic Newport Music Hall.  This show was a sold out and its rare that I find myself not able to move in a general admission venue.  This show was absolutely jammed with fans.

This show exemplified the true nature of what being a…

Jessie Ware - Lincoln Hall - Chicago IL. 1/20/13.

I was very excited to get to see Jessie Ware and her brand of what I call "baby making music".  She has a root in Soul while making use of old school 808 sounds and samplers, all the while being ethereal and airy.  As a side note, the guitar player was playing this…

Matthew Koma - Vic Theater - Chicago IL. 10/6/12

I had seen Matthew Koma 5 times before this show on the Sorry For Party Rocking Tour.  I felt it would be worth the trip to see a more proper set.  I was pleased to see that from my vantage point, it appeared that the Vic Theater was full capacity.  When he was on SFPR tour, I felt like though it was best he play…

Michael Kiwanuka - Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis IN. 09/25/12.

Michael Kiwanuka and Slash at the same venue?  The cool part was after this photo I went and stood where the guy in the hat is standing in the above pic.  I placed a call on my cell phone and I look over and 10 feet away was Myles Kennedy speaking on his cell phone.  It was pretty cool.…

Anatomy of an Album Cover

I have many talented Rec'ers as friends.  Some are musicians, producers, remixers and some do graphics and drawings.

In my case I needed to have an album cover made.  I love vinyl albums and the apparent lost art of colorful cover art.  I am a huge fan of the Smashing Pumpkins album "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness".  That cover has everything I love...stars..moons, and the color purple.…

Sorry For Party Rocking - Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia PA. 06/30/12

I had written many times about the Sorry For Party Rocking Tour.  I decided that for my last SFPR blog I would just let the pictures do the talking.  I had really good seats but being that I use the IPhone for pictures with no good zoom, I decided to take pics of the stage screen backgrounds that LMFAO used…

Sorry For Party Rocking Tour - Prudential Center - Newark, NJ. 06/29/12

Well it had been a few weeks since I had seen the Sorry for Party Rocking Tour in Chicago.  I was curious to see how the show had evolved and it did not disappoint.  First of all Matthew Koma in a brilliant social marketing move started giving out backstage passes if you followed him on twitter and were…

LMFAO on Good Morning America - Central Park - New York City, NY. 06/29/12

I decided to come to NYC for the Sorry for Party Rocking Tour.  I felt a connection with the city on my previous trip here for the sold out Robyn and Natalia Kills show at Radio City Music Hall.  Therefore being in town I decided to enter for a chance to see LMFAO on Good Morning America and was…

Far East Movement CD Signing, Much Music Video Awards, & Luxy Night Club - Toronto ON. June 16, 2012.

On an impulse, I decided to hop in the car and drive 9 hours to go to a Far East Movement CD signing at HMV in Toronto ON.  Even though I had the digital version of Dirty Bass, I decided to buy the canadian version in hard copy and have it signed for a Rec'er.  There was a fantastic turn out for FM... tons of…

Sorry For Party Rocking Tour - Allstate Arena & Studio Paris After Party - Chicago, IL. 05/26/12

Call me a bad son... this show was on May 26th...my Mother's birthday is May 26th.  She was in Louisville and I...was in Chicago for the Sorry for Party Rocking Tour.  It was really cool when I was driving through Target's parking lot which was across the street from the venue and Matthew Koma was walking…

Sorry For Party Rocking Tour - The Palace at Auburn Hills - Detroit, MI. 05/23/2012

I was excited to go to Detroit due to the fact I was dying to drop into American Jewelry and Loan (AKA Hardcore Pawn).  After that excursion I made my way to Auburn Hills for the Sorry For Party Rocking stop at the Palace and being fashionably early, I walked laps around the venue.

Matthew Koma and Eva…

Sorry For Party Rocking Tour - Nationwide Arena - Columbus, OH. 05/22/12

Columbus OH was home to the first U.S. date of the Redfoo and Cherrytree Presents:  Sorry For Party Rocking Tour USA.  I was looking forward to seeing this particular show because it was the first and I was very interested in seeing how the show would evolve from this one.  It was nice to also see SkyBlu back in…

Marianas Trench June 11, 2012 - Indianapolis IN.

Here in Indianapolis, Journeys put on a free show and the headliner was Marianas Trench.  I was familiar with them so I decided to go and see the show.  I didn't know what to expect exactly, but at the completion of the show I was very pleased with what I heard.  I had never really heard their work so the…
