Home. Getting home after having ridiculous New York TV days like that is always a weird one. It's like being shoved back into reality and into normal life again. I quite like that to be fair.
The day after tour is always spent washing clothes, unpacking, tidying and just generally sorting your life out! I went for lunch in central London because I missed the place. The sun was shining and it is this kind of day that makes me remember why I live here. Most of the times, when we land… Continue

This was it...we had talked about meeting Whoopi for the whole tour and now it was going to happen! I guess that playing on one of USA's biggest TV shows should have been the thing on our mind the most, but I'm sorry to say, it was Whoopi! We got down early and Mike demolished the bagel and pastry tray. There really isn't much to do back stage at these things but eat and wait..
We realised that "The View", was pretty much a program called "Loose Women" that we have in England, except… Continue

La Roux have been forced to cancel Lilith appearances after Elly contracted pharyngitis after appearing at Los Angeles' Club Nokia last Thursday July 15.
Elly is seeing a specialist when she returns home to London this week and we will make an announcement about the rest of the US shows once we get news on her condition.
"I have been feeling ill for a while now and battling with throat problems all year but now I've picked up an infection amd need to rest. My deepest… Continue

An early start to get down to LAX. On route to my favourite place in the world, NY. I haven't really got too much to report about the day as I was just on the plane!! I met a guy called Josh who was in "Wicked" on Broadway, and the bloke from Flight of the Concords was on the flight...cool?
Tomorrow will be more interesting, I promise! (I hope)

Day off! We had a day off in sunny LA and the weather was just fantastic (obviously).
I met up with Mikey, Dave (our soundguy) and Stoney (our tech) for breakfast in a cafe down the road, and sat with them in the sunshine talking about the show and other tours. We decided to take it to the pool, and went back to the hotel.
Now I took a risk. Every time I even think about the sun, I burn. Not like a little bit pink, but lobster red. Last month we were in Kansas and I sat by… Continue

The LA show. These are always pretty important, but (touch wood) always SUPER good. We were playing Club Nokia which holds 2,500. It's funny to think that in August last year, we were playing at The Troubadour which holds maybe 200 tops?! What a year.
The venue was in downtown LA, which is an area we haven't really been to before. It was in a shopping centre too, similar to the Islington Academy in London actually. Mickey and I went outside to see some fans who had been waiting for 8… Continue

After kicking jet lag in the a** (9 hour sleep!) I got up and had a wonder around the area we were staying in, in San Diego. I just wanted some breakfast, as I'd not really eaten the day before. "Right, burger restaurant....yep, there's another one....right there's a mexican...oh, a diner, more burgers, yep..." - oh yes, I forgot that we are back in America and all you can eat is BURGERS AND MEXICAN FOOD!! WHAT IS ALL THAT ABOUT?! I found what looked like a nice little french cafe just around… Continue

21 hours of travelling is never fun. I left my flat at 11am UK time and got a cab to Heathrow, London, then flew from London to Los Angeles, then drove from Los Angeles to San Diego and got in at midnight West Coast time. I could have ended my life there and then, I was SO SO tired! But instead, like any normal human being, I went to bed.
Strangely enough, the plane is the only place I ever seem to be able to write music. I can look at this blank computer screen for hours at home… Continue

So we were supposed to play a show in Chicago today but due to Elly's illness we had to pull it. None of us like pulling shows and we are very sorry to anyone that came to see us.
We had another night in LA. Due to everything being SO cheap in USA, we got some new In Ear Monitors made at the hotel!! Now you get a little case with them that says your name on, and we decided to have our alter egos and rap names that we came up with on the bus one day..
Elly Jackson - Leonard… Continue

While we Americans did just celebrate our independence from England, there are a handful of British imports we should be thankful for — Flake bars, Russell and, particularly, La Roux. The twosome — Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid — hit mainstream in the States by the end of 2009 with their curious, impossibly compelling mix of 8-bit-bent electro-pop laced with Jackson’s haunting, hunted vocals and undeniable amounts of vulnerability. La Roux’s style — a decadent yet detached,… Continue

With hits such as 'Bulletproof,' the British duo fronted by Elly Jackson is being embraced in the U.S. It'll play sold-out Club Nokia in L.A.
Elly Jackson has never felt comfortable in girly clothing. In a pop world of in-your-face sexuality and scantily clad stars tiptoeing around in high… Continue

Travel days. Before the days of touring in a tour bus, travel days were the WORST!! Cooped up in a van with 5 or 6 others with no where to sleep wasn't my idea of a good time, but when you're on a bus, they're great! I sat with Mickey and our tech Stoney and watched 3 films back to back under my duvet. Hardest day at "work" I've had in a while ;)
We got home at 7pm and I went straight out to see my flatmate and some friends at a bar down the road from my house. It was nice to have a… Continue

12 AND A HALF HOURS LATER (!!!) I woke up in Ireland. I had a text from an old friend who I hadn't seen in ages saying her dressing room was next to ours which I was really happy about! I went to go and say hello and then started killing time. Again, the weather was SO miserable and the site was huge so I didn't get to see any of the bands I wanted to. A great shame, but I'm almost positive I'll get the chance again. I spent most of the day with the Ellie Goulding band as I've not seen them in… Continue

Well that was awful. Absolutely awful. EVERYTHING that could have gone wrong went wrong. It leaves you with such a horrible taste in your mouth when a show like that happens. Especially when it happens on 3 hours sleep. Not fun at ALL. This isn't to say the crowd weren't good, they absolutely nailed it, and considering we have had to cancel a couple shows in Lisbon, they showed us an amazing time.
After another night of 3 hours sleep, (i don't like getting anything less then 10!) We… Continue

I've decided to put both these days into 1 blog post because..well..I really didn't get up to anything THAT interesting.
I mean, yeah, I had a great time, but nothing that anyone else would really find that fun...bathroom cleaning, clothes washing etc. Its the kind of preparation that just HAS to be done before you go away for a long period of time.
These blogs will be more exciting from NOW! We are busy from now you see!
I'm currently on a plane to Portugal for… Continue

Another day off...another day shopping!
I got a J.Lindeberg trench and Nicole Fahri for SO cheap! The Selfridges sale is dangerous when you have days off.
My girlfriend and I then went and met my Dad, my Grandpa, my auntie, and her boyfriend (David Warner from the Omen and Titanic!) I didn't even know he did those films?! Crazy.
We went on afterwards to go BOWLING! Its been so long, and you could tell. My friend Peter has been tour managing 3oh3 and has done a… Continue

We arrived at John Henry's (rehearsal room) at like 1pm to set up some of our other equipment to make sure it all worked as we have a festival in Portugal one day, and one in Scotland the day after, so 1 set needs to go to one, and one to the other. This took most the day for the poor crew and a little bit for me.
I had a few hours off so I went to Wireless festival in Hyde Park. I can easily say it is the most threatened I have EVER felt at a festival! Even the… Continue

So todays festival looked like a village fate as we rolled in on the bus. We all looked out of the window of the back lounge and "awww"ed at it. It's funny how after a year of touring we found ourselves awwing at a festival that must have held 15,000 people per stage!!
The setting was beautiful. A big old stereotypical french house held all of the dressing rooms in. Each of which would have made a dream flat. The food was stereotypical french food - cheeses, wines, (and nothing for… Continue

Well that show didn't turn out as well as I thought!
The boiling texas-esque sunshine turned into some tropical monsoon! The stage flooded and everything got pushed back.
Mid set we have to come off, move all our equipment to the back of the stage and carry on as we were getting soaked. To be honest, the rain was welcomed as it was so clammy.
I'm in Caen now, in the quaintest little festival in the world. We've got a few friends here today and you couldn't ask… Continue

Pinch punch first of the month!
We played at Werchter Festival last night in Belgium, and I can honestly say that it was one of our finest shows! Our favourite show from the year before was also in Belgium..the Belgums, Belgians? are bananas!
We stayed to watch Muse on the mainstage. I know they always win "Best Live Act" but I wondered, "Did people just vote for them just because they always win it?" - but no, they really are one of the best live bands I have seen.… Continue
