Dancehall Dream - The New Yorker reviews Body Talk Pt. 1

Robyn’s new album, “Body Talk Pt. 1,” provides eight handsomely formed, near-perfect pop songs that are embedded with a casual kind of feminism. Robyn, a small, delicate-looking thirty-one-year-old Swede, is remarkably adept at producing pleasurable, accessible pop that, like some kind of…

Body Talk Pt 1 4/5 Review on

"At its core however, it is “Dancing On My Own” that embodies the heart and soul of this mini-record; a 21st century reconfiguration of the classic discotheque record, colored by icy rapid-fire synthesizers and flawless Swede-pop production courtesy of producer, Patrik Berger. The song is the purest definition of sad disco, as well as the logical artistic progression after the success of her previous tear-jerking stormer, “With Every Heartbeat.” For this song alone, the…

Rave Review from for Body Talk Pt. 1

"Opening with "Don't Fu**king Tell Me What To Do," an amusing litany of buzz-killers drizzled over minimalist beats, the set really shines when she teams up with M.I.A.'s old partner-in-crime, Diplo, on the slinky "Dancehall Queen," and Norwegian producers Röyksopp for the simmering synth-pop diss…

Stellar Review from The Boston Herald for Robyn's 'Body Talk Pt. 1'

“Body Talk Pt. 1” (Konichiwa/Cherrytree): A-

Fembots need love, too. And they need to “initiate slut mode” when the mood strikes. So says cheeky Swedish pop diva Robyn, who can get you tee-hee-ing as you work up a sweat on the dance floor. Her eight-song EP, the first of three planned for release this year, begins with the percolating club banger “Don’t (expletive) Tell Me What to Do,” which offers a laundry list of vices and guilt-inducing woes. “Dancehall Queen,” a collaboration with… Continue

Robyn Lets Her Body Talk

"Not being able to put out another record until another five years after touring seemed uninspiring to me- so it's in an album in parts. It's a way of breaking it up a bit. It allowed me to record and tour at the same time. So that was the main reason for doing it – a practical solution. It influenced a lot of the visuals and relates to how people consume music these days, I like shorter albums, I don't think they have to be like 15 songs now."

Robyn Interview in The Guardian

Robyn Talks Up her Spicy Pop Disc with Us Weekly

"I love being on stage and performing with my band, but I think once you

take the music out of the studio, something happens and it takes on a

life of its own. That's the most amazing thing about being on the road

because you get to experience how the music is making its own way into

people's lives and that's really really nice."

NY Times Critics' Choice: Body Talk Pt. 1

"“Play me some new kind of sound/Something true and sincere,” she sings in “None of Dem,” produced by the Norwegian electronic-music duo Royksopp. But her swagger hasn’t left her. The album’s grating opener, whose full title is unprintable here, makes a litany of complaints feel like a string of boasts. And “Dancehall Queen,” an ode to 1990s Euro-dub produced by Mr. Ahlund and Diplo, finds her alone in a crowd again, but without the angst. “I came to dance, not… Continue

Body Talk Pt. 1 4/5 Review in The Guardian
