Redfoo - Behind The Speedo (Episode 1)

The Planes.

Great new indie band from the South of England. For fans of early Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, The Libertines and just out and out good tidy music with a bit of grit. Although polished in sound and image, the 4 Portsmouth natives bring about a feeling of years long past in the music guitar rock scene. The ethos of everything is for us and done by us without seeming arrogant. Personality aside the actual music is very attractive and comforting without seeming brash.

So sit…

Review Riot: A Hospital For Souls

After releasing The Trials and becoming a huge internet sensation for a lot of us, Rhiannon, - who is better known as Antoinette to her fans - has finally released her sophomore album, A Hospital For Souls, which happens to be just as brilliant as the first, and with their beautiful lyrics and soothing music, both albums have managed to convey the very essence of what it is to have mental illness. While The Trials talks about broken hearts and broken minds in general, A Hospital For Souls relates a story of a girl who passes over into a hospital, with no knowledge whatsoever of her death. The music has a somewhat indie sound, a sound I believe deserves more merit than most musicians out there, as it has been recorded and distributed straight from Rhiannon’s house. The lyrics manage to convey an incredibly complex and touching story in just fourteen songs, and the music manages to help relax your mind, which it’s soft guitar chords and even softer drumbeats, and that’s all tied together with Rhiannon’s voice singing about the things closest to her heart. It’s a story worth listening to, even if the music isn’t to your taste, because it’s a story that almost everyone could relate to. You can listen to and download A Hospital For Souls here.

The Sonic Reverie: Introducing Antoinette + The Kings Men

Antoinette and the Kings Men might be a very fresh project, but it certainly isn't so new in the eyes of it's creator. What we have is something that has been under wraps and in development for much longer than your average demo tracks. The material she offers is instead written from life experiences and…

CQD (Come Quickly Distress) - A Review by Cathy Maddox

I wish I was born beautiful
I found myself crying my eyes out while listening to Antoinette & the Kings Men's new song, 'CQD'. It stands for 'Come Quickly Distress', and I think it's based on the Titanic based on the tags. (I forgot what she told me about it)
It is a very haunting piece of art that I found seriously mesmerizing. Maybe it was the fact it…

The Evolution of Antoinette (2010 - 2012) - CQD (Come Quickly Distress)

The track depicts changes - about people stating that I have "changed' and become a "stranger" to them. I penned these lyrics when I was at my lowest, honest-to-God rock bottom. When I thought I was out and over the hill - that everything I had ambition for was over.

Sometimes we feel unfulfilled and in this state, we think we're…

A Night Filled With Magic.

I just want to get this off my chest before I forget anything.

So today I saw one of my biggest inspirations musically ever: Ellie Goulding. My love for Ellie I’d say has stemmed back to the end of last year when I first discovered her. Well really before that because I…

SXSW and Cherry Tree

It's so crazy how all of this came to a reality, well, my dream into a reality.

It all started on February 19th, when I went to the Robyn/Natalia Kills show in Houston, Texas. Natalia is my favorite so as soon as she left the stage to go to the back, I knew I had to meet her. While in line some dude was a creeping a picture of me (not realizing who it is at first) so eventually I remembered I was rocking my Cherry Tree Rec shirt, and who the creeper was it was Mr. Martin K and wasn't…

Listeng back..

I've just been going through a whole period of remembering songs and albums from my youth, then disocvering that they're available on iTunes. 3 glases of red and a bit of a trashing of the credit card later and I've got the headphones turned way up and am literally transported back to specific places, dates and experiences in time.

The thing that's amazed me the most is how the tracks that are most enjoyable and reminiscent of past times are the songs by little known artists and groups but… Continue
