Not many British bands these days have more than one million-selling album, let alone three. Fewer still manage to replicate - and maintain - that success outside the UK. And only a tiny number are able to continually develop their sound as their career progresses. But, in the last decade, Keane have… Continue

British rock act Keane is set to return this spring with its fourth album, "Night Train." Due May 11 via Cherrytree/Interscope, the set contains only 8 songs, but features collaborations with rapper K'Naan, Japanese MC Tigarah and a rare lead vocal performance from Keane…
"Night Train features eight powerful new tracks and includes genre-busting collaborations with Somali rapper K'naan and Japanese rapped MC Tigarah (remember this?). For the first time, Tim Rice-Oxley also contributes vocals to the album. Songs for this new record were written and recorded during the…Continue

had a really great day with Tim and Tom in Tim's studio yesterday. I went there to take some photos, and ended up laying down some drum tracks on a couple of songs. was nice to use the drums I bought Tim about 2 years ago, precisely for moments like this! only four mics around the kit, but it sounded great. anyway, I remembered to take some photos, and here they are. Hope everyone is well, and rest-assured, we are looking forward to coming out to…
American Eagle Outfitters, in partnership with Filter Magazine, has this week launched Hear To Help, an exclusive compilation CD to benefit relief and recovery efforts in Haiti. And we're pleased to report that it features an exclusive Keane track - the French version of Black Burning Heart, which the band recorded in the summer of 2008, but which has never previously been released. (It seemed an appropriate choice, as French is one of Haiti's two official…
Not many British bands these days have more than one album, which sells a million copies, let alone three. Fewer still manage to replicate - and maintain - that success outside the UK. And only a tiny number are able to continually develop their sound as their career progresses. But, in the last decade, Keane have achieved all of those things and a whole lot more. After selling 10 million copies of their three award-winning albums, it's no… Continue

Paulo Coelho is one of those writers that intellectuals can be a bit sneery about, because he writes these very wide-eyed books about spiritual adventures and everything is always a metaphor for some kind of spiritual discovery or philosophy. And he's also quite religious in places. But I was recommended the book - by Jesse, actually - and I really enjoyed it.
It's a very interesting read. It's based on Coelho going on this journey where he wants to become part of some kind of… Continue

Hi folks. We just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that, sadly, Hopes And Fears didn't win the Best Album of 30 Years at the Brit Awards last night. The award was actually won by Oasis's album (What's The Story) Morning Glory.
However, we do know that Keane got loads of votes, and we wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who took the trouble to vote for Hopes And Fears. We really do appreciate it.…
Tune in today from 12pm (PST) / 8pm (GMT) for Martin's live Blog-By-Blog commentary of the BRIT Awards 2010 exclusively on CherrytreeRecords.com. Three Cherrytree artists - Lady Gaga, La Roux and Keane are all nominated at this years BRIT awards.
"Some of the songs continue in the trajectory of the last Keane album, so 'Your Love' (which has touches of 'Early Winter') is quite electrical and 'Stop For A Minute' (featuring a rap from K'Naan who manages to rhyme 'females' with 'e-mails' thus putting this song on a level with Pixie Lott's 'Cry Me Out' in that respect and that respect alone) sits well alongside something like 'Spiralling'."
We're extremely pleased to announce that Elmira Temirgaliyeva from Kazakhstan - the Keane fan who won our recent Hopes And Fears video contest - has been commissioned by Island Records to make a video for one of the tracks from Keane's new EP, Night Train.
Elmira will be making a video for live favourite My Shadow. We can't wait to see it (and show it to you folks).
Night Train will be released on CD and download on May 10 - and you can pre-order a special…
Check out the video below of Tom and Tim from Keane backing label-mate La Roux on Best Breakthrough Act for this years Brit Awards. Keane themselves are also up for a Brit Awards this year for 'Best Album of 30 Years'…
This is me at home on the piano (yes just got out of bed) playing an old Pet Shop Boys b-side that I’ve always loved. Although it’s a song about a funeral, and despite being set in the context of the formal, stiff-upper lipped way British people approach death, I think it’s more about how "passing on" should really be seen as something more positive...much more a part of life I suppose. In this case, a release from prejudice and a sense of hope…
K'Naan is in town, as you can see, and we recorded a couple of acoustic sessions with him today.
