Check out the Spin
review of the Los Angeles All Hearts Tour Concert below:
All that was missing from Robyn's set Friday at the opening night of the "All Hearts" tour at Los Angeles' Music Box theater was a giant disco ball.
Everything else was in place: footloose fans who arrived early for Englishman Dan Black's good-humored set and stayed in motion during Far East Movement's DJ stylings;… Continue

A platinum-blond proponent of Scandinavian efficiency, the Swedish electro-pop singer Robyn wasted no time getting to her point Friday night at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theater in Hollywood. “I’ve got some news for you,” she sang less than a minute into her hour-long set, “Fembots have feelings too.”
Friday’s sold-out concert kicked off a joint U.S. tour by Robyn and Kelis, the adventurous R&B star best known for her 2003 hit “Milkshake.” Both women have new albums to promote,… Continue

The dust has barely had time to settle since the arrival of Body Talk Pt 1, the first instalment of Robyn's ambitious three-part album release plan for this year. Lead single Dancing On My Own, the heartbreaking heir to With Every Heartbeat, went top ten in the UK, while everyone from… Continue

Some pics from last night, and some from today when Jesse and I went for a wander, met some lovely Keane fans, and totally failed to find a camera shop (two that we were looking for were no longer there - a sign of the tough economic times, maybe). Still, it's got some lovely old buildings, and some great… Continue

In Afrikaans, the band name Die Antwoord means "The Answer." But one big unsolved question has followed the South African rap-rave trio since their deliciously bonkers music videos began circulating online months ago -- are they for real?
This is usually a silly debate in the artifice-obsessed world of pop music. But Die Antwoord so perfectly upends every au courant collision in urban, electronica and world music today that, well, larger forces seem at play. The band's founder,… Continue

La Roux have been forced to cancel Lilith appearances after Elly contracted pharyngitis after appearing at Los Angeles' Club Nokia last Thursday July 15.
Elly is seeing a specialist when she returns home to London this week and we will make an announcement about the rest of the US shows once we get news on her condition.
"I have been feeling ill for a while now and battling with throat problems all year but now I've picked up an infection amd need to rest. My deepest… Continue

With hits such as 'Bulletproof,' the British duo fronted by Elly Jackson is being embraced in the U.S. It'll play sold-out Club Nokia in L.A.
Elly Jackson has never felt comfortable in girly clothing. In a pop world of in-your-face sexuality and scantily clad stars tiptoeing around in high… Continue

Day off! We had a day off in sunny LA and the weather was just fantastic (obviously).
I met up with Mikey, Dave (our soundguy) and Stoney (our tech) for breakfast in a cafe down the road, and sat with them in the sunshine talking about the show and other tours. We decided to take it to the pool, and went back to the hotel.
Now I took a risk. Every time I even think about the sun, I burn. Not like a little bit pink, but lobster red. Last month we were in Kansas and I sat by… Continue

The LA show. These are always pretty important, but (touch wood) always SUPER good. We were playing Club Nokia which holds 2,500. It's funny to think that in August last year, we were playing at The Troubadour which holds maybe 200 tops?! What a year.
The venue was in downtown LA, which is an area we haven't really been to before. It was in a shopping centre too, similar to the Islington Academy in London actually. Mickey and I went outside to see some fans who had been waiting for 8… Continue

After kicking jet lag in the a** (9 hour sleep!) I got up and had a wonder around the area we were staying in, in San Diego. I just wanted some breakfast, as I'd not really eaten the day before. "Right, burger restaurant....yep, there's another one....right there's a mexican...oh, a diner, more burgers, yep..." - oh yes, I forgot that we are back in America and all you can eat is BURGERS AND MEXICAN FOOD!! WHAT IS ALL THAT ABOUT?! I found what looked like a nice little french cafe just around… Continue

21 hours of travelling is never fun. I left my flat at 11am UK time and got a cab to Heathrow, London, then flew from London to Los Angeles, then drove from Los Angeles to San Diego and got in at midnight West Coast time. I could have ended my life there and then, I was SO SO tired! But instead, like any normal human being, I went to bed.
Strangely enough, the plane is the only place I ever seem to be able to write music. I can look at this blank computer screen for hours at home… Continue
