"At 15 years of age, Reema is a true master of ceremonies, and she possesses the ability to command, energize, captivate, and entertain a crowd, unlike any other teenage Hip-Hop recording artist that I have ever come across."

Toronto has one talented 15-year old sensation that has been tearing up the scene since she appeared on this year’s edition of BET’s coveted awards cypher (BET’s freestyle session). Of course, I’m referring to Reema Major. The amount of swag that this young girl brings to the table is incredible. From the moment she stepped foot on stage in her blue tutu, she went hard. She carries herself as if she was a 10 year vet, because her demeanour and attitude are so raw. She gave everybody in… Continue

After months (about a year?) of being a Rec'er, I finally discover the blog feature, and get the urge to create one.
After recently becoming a big fan of Robyn after her release of Body Talk pt. 1, I'v been hooked. So hooked, in fact, that I pushed all of my caution aside and slapped my copy of Body Talk pt. 2 to let the whole house hear. The Product? My mom "dancing" to Criminal Intent.... Enjoy. :)… Continue

I was very excited to see Mt. Desolation. I am a fan of this style of music and I knew before I arrived that I would be in for a treat. True musicianship was on display and a delight to the crowd. At one point they joked about burning… Continue

The rest of the show bounced between those kind of poppy, don't-mess-with-me anthems ("Indestructible," "With Every Heartbeat") and the more grinding digi-romps ("The Girl and the Robot," "Don't [Expletive] Tell Me What to Do"). With the club's small stage and poor sightlines, many fans did not even notice that Robyn had two drummers working hard behind her instead of pre-recorded dance beats -- although she did employ plenty of pre-recorded backing vocals. She also had two giant pinwheels for… Continue

Singing songs from her fourth self-titled album (2008) and Body Talk Part 1, 2, and 3 (which all came out this year) she had more than enough songs to choose from. During “U Should Know Better,” a duet with Snoop Dogg, she slows down the tempo, singing a stage single version of the track, the band interluding the electronic sounds during the Snoop Dogg verse(unfortunately, he couldn’t make it). While singing “With Every Heartbeat,” the ballad that helped emerge her career from obscurity, the… Continue

I made the trek to see Robyn again in Chicago..There were two special things about this show...one was the presence of Natalia Kills, the second was the infusion of songs from Body Talk 2 into the set.
While waiting out front,… Continue

Three years on and Robyn has managed to stay ahead of the curve: where once she was subverting song structure, now she is subverting release structure with her Body Talk project, which has seen her serve up three albums in less than six months. Far from being a victory for quantity over quality, however, Body Talk Pt 1 and Body Talk Pt 2 have been greeted with near-universal acclaim, and the final installment, a quasi-best-of featuring five songs from the first… Continue
