FEIST and MASTODON

Another Record Store Day item, with a flair specific to the occasion, is “Feistodon” (Cherrytree/Interscope/Reprise), a seven-inch single by Feist, the blissfully coolheaded singer-songwriter, and Mastodon, the strenuously proggish metal band. Extensively blogged about before…

Has anyone had the Feist download code (included in the Metals vinyl) be denied. Mine was today after buying the album a week ago.

I think I entered this information on the wrong page, so, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again" (read the Feist Biography page/link and this might make sense) :-)...

PARTIAL REPOST:

After reading this review for "Metals", I'm even more excited to hear how the new release sounds!

I've been lucky enough to have seen a few Feist performances via video.  I got to know her music by seeing it live first and then by buying the CDs.  She is by far the best female artist and her live shows are where she shines.  And I love that.

I really cannot describe what it is that I love so much about Feist's music.  I can say it is her voice, lyrics, the band's instruments, and about ten dozen other things that all come together and work so perfectly well.  But that's just scratching the surface.  One thing is for sure; her voice moves me in a way like only one other.

One thing I enjoyed reading Feist say is this.  She doesn’t try to tell you what her songs or lyrics mean.  She lets you make up your mind what the music means to you.  I can't tell you how many songs said or meant something totally different to me growing up than what was really being said/portrayed by the artists.  Once I learned the right lyrics or meaning of a song, it didn't matter.  It still meant to me what it originally did and it always will.  Feist's music is so similar in this way that I don't want to learn what's being said if I'm wrong!  Sometimes; it's a simple chorus, phrase, or whatever in her songs that grab me and hold special meanings.  The melody she uses to sing and the whole "mood" or "feeling" I get from the songs finds its mark!  Like I said, it's something that just cannot be truly described sometimes.  And if you understand then you know what I mean.

I'm really excited that we'll all have some new Feist to listen to after what seems like an eternity to me of waiting for the next, new release...
