First off, apologies for my sporadic blogging technique. Lots going on here at
Cherrytree Records:
Just last month, Tokio Hotel won the Best New Artist award at the MTV VMA's and
we celebrated by confirming two more visits by the band this year to the US.
Look out for them in your neck of the woods in October (including a headline
show at Roseland in NYC on October 30th, 2008) and then again in December.
Lady Gaga's been collecting number 1 chart positions with her debut single "Just
Dance" which has now gone to the top spot in 5 countries. Her album, "The
Fame," is already out and doing very well around the world and we're releasing
it in the US on October 28th. She's dazzling fans with her amazing voice and
multi-media performances as she opens for the New Kids on the Block in the US
and Canada all this month and next. You can spot Gaga's "musical dissector,"
Space Cowboy on stage on the 1's and 2's.
Just off her successful tour run opening for Madonna in Europe, Robyn took her
supreme dopeness to Belgium to perform her moving song "With Every Heartbeat"
with a full orchestra in a televised event benefitting Unicef
(click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvD-Z9430tc for a blast).
Robyn's coming to the US this month to do some writing, recording and, of course, school a few
sucka MC's (as well as some record company employees, no doubt).
Speaking of record companies, Noah and the Whale just visited our favorite one
and performed exclusive acoustic versions of their songs (and a choice cover) on
"The Cherrytree House" web TV program. Keep and eye out for Noah and the
Whale's forthcoming episode as well as previous ones from Tokio Hotel, Feist and
The Fratellis at www.thecherrytreehouse.com.
On November 11th, Cherrytree will have the great privilege of issuing the first
new release from legendary ska-reggae-rock group, The Police, exclusively
through Best Buy in the US and across all retail outlets internationally. This
is one of my favorite bands off all-time and I've had the pleasure of working
with them since my time at A&M Records. We recorded their dynamic live show
last December in Buenos Aires from the group's recent record-breaking reunion
tour and filmed it in HD with a crazy 38 cameras. In its main configuration, the
release will include 2 DVD's and 2 CD's containing the concert (both film and
audio), a 1-hour making-of-the-tour piece and some tasty extra's including
candid photos from the lens of guitarist Andy Summers. This piece is
comprehensive and cool and it's an honor to have it out on Cherrytree/A&M.
Until my next irregularly scheduled blog, thanks for listening.
