New Flipsyde Track "Champion": AT&T Team USA Soundtrack

The 2008 Olympic Games are just around the corner, and we’ve had the unique opportunity to help support the U.S. Olympic Team.

A few weeks ago, we recorded an exclusive song titled “Champion” for the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack. Our goal was to create a song to inspire and support the U.S. Olympic Team athletes (and of course our fans) as they compete in one of the biggest competitions of their lives. Several other artists have also come together to record exclusive songs for the Soundtrack.

The great thing about the project is that the proceeds from downloads, ringtones and Answer Tones will go directly to support Team USA. You can download “Champion” online at att.net/TeamUSA or the ringtone from MEdia Mall on your AT&T wireless handset.

Also, you can check out our music video for this track and a few exclusive interviews about the song. The Team USA Soundtrack proceeds will only be donated during the Olympic Games – starting August 8 – so don’t wait too long to check it out. Watch a video clip HERE

Good luck Team USA!

Flipsyde welcomes new group member Chantelle Paige. The 4-piece (Chantelle, Piper, Steve Knight and Dave Lopez) have been busy recording the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut album "We the People" with such accomplished producers as Akon, Fingazz and Yaku. Flipsyde goes to prison

In the tradition of Metallica and the great Johnny Cash, your boys Flipsyde will be performing live for the inmates of San Quentin State Prison. San Quentin was opened in 1852 and is the oldest prison in the state of California. The prison has been home to Stanley Tookie Williams and Charles Manson to name a few. The performance is scheduled for Saturday, November 18th and is not open to the public.

FLIPSYDE PRESS QUOTES:

“The years best hip hop album is a combination of live instruments, political commentary, introspection and catchy melodies. Flipsyde take the Roots formula a step further." – The Washington Post

“I suspect that come February, you will know the story of Oakland’s Flipsyde. By then, I’m betting, this hip-hop aggregation that uses a live band will be one of the hottest groups in the country. The last time I heard something that I knew would be big this early was when I caught the first Fugees show.” – San Jose Mercury News

“Fire up your IPOD. Flipsyde – a new breed of hip-hop, Latin-inspired, rock-infused band – is on the rise.” – The Cincinnati Enquirer

“Honda Civic Tour openers Flipsyde were dope. They were the more adventurous band of the night, musically speaking.” – The Fresno Bee

“With their star rising, be prepared to hear more from this cross-cultural group, who could be the flag bearers of a new musical movement – where hip-hop meets rock against a backdrop of Latin style.” – The Centre Daily Times

“Combining the urgency of hip-hop with the voracity of rock, Flipsyde’s music is very powerful, and has some definite in-your-face political awareness.” – Venice Magazine

“A pleasant surprise was warm-up band, Flipsyde. They quickly had the audience on its feet with an enthusiastic and skilled performance.” – The Reno Gazette Journal

“Hip-hop is probably best known & categorized by strong rhythmic beats and revolutionary messages, and Flipsyde offers plenty of both. There is nothing stereotypical or formulaic here.” – BlogCritics.Org

“The genre combination of rock laced with hip-hop truly makes the album a diamond in the rough. If you want a true taste of good music, look no further, Flipsyde has what it takes.” – Axis Magazine

“As hard as any rap record, as political as any folk record, as fun as any Latin party album, this group may be the next big thing in hip-hop. Huge, even.” -- Edmonton Sun

“One way to rekindle interest in a record is to go the Flipsyde route: have your infectious song “Someday” chosen as the theme for NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage.” – Billboard

“’We the People’ is wondrously poetic. The songs are fully realized pleas, melodically & lyrically, to confront & change the messed-up world in which we live. There are no gimmicks or formulas – just good music.” – The Winston Salem Journal

“Flipsyde stay true to the political roots of hip-hop culture: they artfully use their music as a platform for social change and activism.” – SF Bay Guardian

“If this is the first you’ve heard of Flipsyde, don’t expect it to be the last. Things are happening fast for Flipsyde. It’s not their fault they’re this good.” – The Owl Magazine

“A stunning mix of hip-hop vocals and beats, Latin acoustic guitar and catchy melodies, We the People bridges the gap between audiences not unlike Linkin Park in method, but with their own flavor. Flipsyde gives everything you could ask for in a record, even if you are not a hip-hop fan.” – Synthesis

“Flipsyde’s blend of hip-hop, rock and Latin flavors works & keeps East Bay pride alive.” – Oakland Tribune

“Judging by their live show, their commitment to making good music and keeping their fans happy, I think we’ll be hearing from Flipsyde for a long time.” – Ova Here Media

“The biggest trend in music now is fusion, most notably rock and hip-hop. Few bands can combine the two with such finesse; Flipsyde can be added as one of the few exceptions. Flipsyde has a solid debut album and unique sound that will cross many genres with ease.” – University Wire

“Flipsyde seems to have something that fans have been waiting for and their rise to fame is far from over.” – AndPop Online

“Flipsyde is a culturally diverse four-man rock/hip-hop collaborative that uses turntables, melodic hooks, stinging rap lyrics, and blazing electric and sweep-picked acoustic guitars to spread a message of social awareness and self-empowerment on We The People.” – Guitar Player
